Commitment to Net-Zero

The fight against climate change is a priority for BDO as a global organisation and for our global leadership, which is why we joined the Net-Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance (NZFSPA) in September 2021. Along with our GPPC peers, the BDO global network has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner, in alignment with the Paris Agreement.

“The Net-Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance will be critical to helping the financial sector achieve net zero. By joining the alliance and GFANZ, these firms are committing to ensuring their products and services support a high ambition, credible net zero transition that we need to achieve our 1.5-degree goal.”

Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of England & the UK Prime Minister’s Finance Adviser for COP26

Global Net-Zero programme

BDO’s global Net-Zero programme provides all BDO firms with a standardised global methodology and approach that supports implementation through the carbon baseline emissions calculation, Net-Zero target setting and annual reporting steps. This will ensure the consistency and auditability of BDO’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and the reduction targets that BDO will be reporting on as a global organisation.

In 2023, a group of 20 firms, including the BDO Global Office, is working to measure our carbon baseline for 2022, moving to develop a roadmap detailing a carbon emission mitigation strategy for our global organisation.
